The DEK Drain SystemSimplicity of Design and Ease of Installation
All components of the DEK Drain system are made from the same specially designed rubber membrane. This material is lower cost, more flexible, longer lasting and more eco-friendly than systems fabricated with metal or plastic.
The special DEK Drain rubber membrane is resistant to UV rays, ozone, acid rain, leaf decay, salt spray and other environmental hazards. The panels stay flexible to -57 degrees F, so they can be installed in any weather. The material is stable so it doesn't expand or contract. Basic installation is extremely simple. After installing a flashing strip along the ledger board, the DEK Drain panels are stapled on top of the joists. The panels are pre-cut for installation on 12", 16" and 24" on-center framing. The unique cut of the panels allows the drainage trough to form automatically during installation. Cap strips are stapled on top of the joists for added protection. Installation of the decking boards holds the system in place permanently. The DEK Drain materials are easily handled by one person. The only tools needed are a stapler--either a hammer-tacker or a pneumatic stapler, sharp scissors and a razor knife. No measuring, gauging, sizing or caulking is necessary. There are two versions of the DEK Drain product. DEK Drain TOPSIDE is designed for new construction. The panels are attached to the top of the joists before the deck boards are fastened down. The UNDERSIDE product is installed under existing decks. For TOPSIDE one man can install 350-700 square feet per day. Two men can install 500-1,200 square feet per day. UNDERSIDE is a more difficult install. Two men can place 300-500 square feet per day. Flexible and CustomizableDecks come in all shapes and sizes. Deck builders use different systems for blocking and bracing. Rail posts may be positioned on the inside or outside of the framing structure. Many decks are cantilevered with the joists extending beyond the beam. DEK Drain is intimately familiar with all these scenarios and has developed customized product variations to adapt the system for any situation. For example, with a cantilevered deck, reverse panels drain the portion of the deck beyond the beam so only one collection gutter is required. Post flashing kits prevent leaking around interior posts. DEK Drain bibs prevent water from overshooting the gutter. DEK Drain's product specialists carefully review potential variations to provide exactly what customers need. Different options are available for new or existing decks. Customers save by purchasing only the quantity of materials needed for their specific project. Off-the-shelf systems don't offer this flexibility. Advantages of a Concealed System
Some deck drainage systems are built into ready-made drop ceilings. This increases the cost of the system and limits design options. Often the material, color and finish of these drop ceiling don't complement a natural outdoor ambiance. These built-in drop ceilings also present challenges when installing lighting and fans.
The DEK Drain system is virtually invisible, even with no ceiling, tucked up high in the bays of the deck. This concealed system presents no limit on ceiling materials, finishes and fixtures to create a spectacular outdoor living space. Copyright ©
